Emma’s Senior Dog Project Saves Lives

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but for pet owners of senior dogs, professional photos are invaluable. Even though two years have passed, the memory of a very best friend hasn’t faded. Thankfully Simon’s legacy is captured in loving images, because Gayle Kerr had her black Labrador photographed as part of Emma’s Senior Dog Project.

Eyes glistening with tears, Gayle simply states “The pictures are just so powerful and emotional, and I can’t tell you how meaningful these images are to me.”

April Hollingsworth created the project in honor or her four-legged friend, Emma, and is offering a photography session in August just for senior dogs- either at their home or a favorite location. She requests a $100 donation to Agape Animal Rescue in lieu of her normal $250 sitting fee.

Having April come to her home to photograph Simon was especially helpful, Gayle says, since he wasn’t very mobile anymore. And the photos became even more meaningful for Gayle when Simon died just a few months after the shoot.

“I felt like it was the right time to do it. I just didn’t know how close we were to goodbye,” Gayle says. She encourages others with senior dogs to take part in Emma’s Senior Dog Project.

Gayle continues. “I don’t know one person who’s done these photographs who hasn’t cherished them. Capture those moments that you’ll treasure forever. This is a rare opportunity to honor your dog by helping to save others.”
