Tribute to Beauregard

Dear Agape Rescue,

Several months ago, I was still living in Nashville with my beautiful beagle-collie mutt, Beauregard. His vet for 10 years was Dr. Summerfield Mobley, whose clinic is located at 4709 Gallatin Road, Nashville, 37216. (615) 262-0415 phone (615) 226-1545 fax.

I left Nashville to move to Los Angeles for graduate school in August (2006). Just two weeks before leaving, Dr. Mobley did some surgery on Beau and personally removed his last stitch the day before we left town, throwing in some antibacterial ointment for free as a going-away gift, as Beau had always been one of Dr. Mobley's favorites.

Just seven weeks after arriving here in L.A., I noticed something that caused me to take Beau to the vet here--and the hospital where I took him was just horrible, impersonal. They actually caused Beau to act sicker than he was. Then the horrible diagnosis came back--lymphoma.

In the last 5 weeks of my beloved Beau's life, Dr. Mobley made himself available by phone for all my questions and concerns, and in fact called me once a week to check up on us as Beau's scheduled departure from my life drew near. He even called in a prescription for us from Nashville to L.A. He never charged me a dime for anything after the day we left Nashville. I
couldn't even get the L.A. hospital to call me back on the same day.

Dr. Mobley even called me the day before Thanksgiving, a week and a half after Beau was gone, to make sure I had somewhere to go.

How's that for awesome?

Please add him to your "recommended vets" list on your website. It was through a copy of Nashville Paw Magazine, which I picked up at his office in July, that I learned of your organization.

When Beau was gone, I had little cards printed at Kinko's. These cards had pictures of Beau on the outside, "A Dog's Prayer" by Beth Norman Harris, and my eulogy to Beau on the inside. In that eulogy, I ask my friends to honor Beau by making a donation to Agape Rescue.
